David obtained a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from NUI Galway in 2001. Once graduated, David worked with Roadbridge for 3 years. In 2004, he moved to Massachusetts in the USA where he spent two years working as a Civil Engineer.

In 2006 David founded Lally Engineering with his brother Robert. He has since been awarded a Masters Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Hygiene and Ergonomics. He was awarded Chartered Engineering CEng MIEI by the Irish Institute of Engineers in 2012.
